I Consider Myself a Pretty Huge Nerd, But...

Has anyone read more than 65 of NPR’s Top 100 Sci-Fi/Fantasy Books? Numbers 50-80 just about ruined whatever nerd cred I had running for myself.

That and I scored a paltry 21/100. I need to seal myself in my room with some Mountain Dew and crank through some books. YAH. WOOOH.

Of the 21 I’ve read, here’s my order (series excluded):

  1.     Snow Crash
  2.     Neuromancer
  3.     1984
  4.     Watchmen
  5.     A Canticle for Leibowitz
  6.     Cat’s Cradle
  7.     The Princess Bride
  8.     Stranger in a Strange Land
  9.     Ender’s Game
  10.     Slaughterhouse-Five
  11.     Starship Troopers
  12.     20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
  13.     Farenheit 451
  14.     American Gods
  15.     Diamond Age
  16.     Animal Farm
  17.     Frankenstein

As you can tell, I’m drawn towards Cyberpunk, which is the only thing that forced 1984 down to #3 (upon a recent re-read, I realized just how staggeringly good it stands as a novel, apart from its cultural impact).
